Yeah thats a view on it. But to ask that question means that the answer will do something for us. So the real question is 'Why does it matter to me?" "What will the answer do for me?"

I tend towards a more "inbetween" approach, i.e. that the universe has evolved into this current state, but it was all started, and is being controlled (for lack of a better word), by a higher being.

Thats actually an interesting stand. It kind of merges the two ideas together. You cant go wrong with that! :D

I believe our minds are incapable of comprehending what a supreme being truely is. Imagine teaching written and spoken language to an insect. The brain of an insect is not evolved enough to understand or comprehend.

That's a very good point. The scriptures do tell us there are some things our minds wont comprehend.
